Silver Queen Capital was founded in 1995 as a local lender specializing in short term loans under $1 million in Colorado.   For the last 12 years SQCC has continually expanded its loan size and amount while financing projects in locations that range from New York to Hawaii.  Today SQCC makes loans in almost every part of the country starting at $1 million and going up to $10 million.  For loans that exceed our lending limit or are outside of our lending type we have developed our Mezzanine and Equity programs which offer financing from $8 million to $100 million on projects in select markets.

History of the Silver Queen

In 1892 – 93, the citizens of Aspen commissioned sculptor Hiram L. Johnson of Pueblo to create an enormous statue—the Aspen Silver Queen—to promote the silver mining industry.

It took six men working for nine months to complete the statue; the ten-foot, silver, white glass, and mineral queen, represented an "ideal American maiden of 17 years—the age of the state of Colorado" in 1893—and was the centerpiece of the eighteen-foot-high, ornate Victorian statue. The statue was valued at $20,000 in a contemporary newspaper account.

The Silver Queen was displayed at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, and was part of an exhibit of Colorado ores and minerals at the Pueblo Mineral Palace until 1942, when that building was torn down, and that's where she was last seen partially intact.

Much effort over the years has gone into locating the Silver Queen and many rumors persist as to her whereabouts.
